    The night felt dark round Limerick
    When all our lamps were still
    And for our foes in ambush

    Like lions we boldly waited

    With gallant Sarsfield at our back
    By the dawning of the day.

    From Dublin came the yeoman
    With guns and warlike store
    They gained the walls of Limerick
    They wanted ten times more.
    Little was their notion
    At night they'd meet their doom
    To meet with noble Sarsfield
