  1. Marriages take place all the year round with the exception of Lent and Advent. Long ago it was the custom for marriages to take place during Shrove which is the time between Christmas and Lent. It was the custom long ago that a match maker to come to the girls house and settled the fortune according to his means and when the match was made and the day fived they would go to the church on horse back the boy first and the girl last, and when they are married the girl and the boy would sit together on
