  1. There is a field on our farm called "Claide Dub" this means the black ditch. It is though its ditches are black under the sod instead of brown. My native townland is Knocknagurteeny. It is situated in the parish of Murroe. It is in the Barony of Clan William and in the County of Limerick. In English it means the hill of the small garden. It got its name from a hill which is situated above it. On another farm there is a lios a Doon and outside it is a stone in the form of a basin and it is said the fairies used wash their hands in it.
