- Candles were made in the home from melted tallow in which were dipped peeled rushes. The tallow was melted into a liquid cast into the mould and left there until cool when it formed into a solid body. To withdraw the candle the mould was slightly heated. In some homes is still to be seen the apparatus for making them which is kept as an antique.
- Thatching was an old art practised by local men who were called "thatchers" and who(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
