  1. Local Landlords.
    Another landlord lived in Pallaskenry whose name was Caulfield and he wanted to raise the rent on the people.
    An old man whose name was Mr. Fitzgibbon died and his son went to Rathkeale to buy a coffin, but had no money. He got a few shillings somewhere and went to Rathkeale for the coffin. On his way home he heard that a coffin was bought and he threw the one which he had into Caulfield's field. When Caulfield saw it he thought that it was for himself and he went away to England.
