  1. Old Graveyards: -
    There is an old graveyard in Ballingarry about the centre of town. It is near the present Protestant Church and Protestants and Catholics are buried in it. Part of its boundary on the north and east is the remains of an old church wall which it is said was there at least 650 years. Nobody was buried in this graveyard since 1910. The earliest inscription that can now be found is dated Nov 11th 1767. One inscription reads - Erected by E O Brien over the grave of his daughter Kate Enright who died Feb 28th 1869 at the age of 21.
    Chaste virtuous and loving was She who lies here.
    Bright beauteous and brief as the bloom of the year.
    Affectionate, generous, faithful and fair.
    As wife, daughter and sister in duty sincere.
    She loved the old hand with a heart full of love.
    But God called her to rest with his angels above.
    For never did the sun in its day glory shine
    On a creature more lovely than Kathleen O' Brien.
    Several trees are growing in this graveyard and Mr Hamilton, the Parson, who was
