    to enter first and say he came to congratulate the newly married couple and then he used to dance with the bride.
    In some places they used to get money, in other places they used to get drink and often they used to get the door. In some places there used to be three or four batches of them especially if the people themselves used to go out as “straw boys”.
    Long ago it was a custom with those attending the wedding to race against each other on the way home from the Church.
    It was a custom with the bride to wear:-
    Something old. Something new.
    Something borrowed and something blue.
