  1. Great care is taken of the poultry in this district Acres, Fermoy, Co Cork.
    Turkeys require great nourishment because they are delicate. Eggs, bread, milk, and dandelion are given to young turkeys.
    When a hen is put down to hatch chickens, there are thirteen eggs put under her. It takes her three weeks to hatch tem. Hens and ducks are fed with oats, potatoes, and pollard. Young chicken are fed with chicken mash and hard boiled eggs.
    When we are calling the hens we say "Tuck, tuck tuck"
    We call the ducks "Fin, fin, fin"
    We call the turkeys "Be Be Be Be."
    We call the chickens "Chick chick chick"
    The geese are called by "Baddy Baddy"
    They all come for their own name.
