expectations, but his hopes were dashed, as he failed to discover any gold. After many days of fruitless search, he was sitting speaking to a man of the town, when suddenly the town's man said, that he dreamt the other night that there was gold hidden in the house of a certain John Murphy in Rockchapel.
John Murphy said nothing, but returned home, as soon as he could, as he was returning home that night, he saw that his house was on fire, he ran to quench it, but failed to do so. He was driven to despair by the failure of his dream, and cursed himself for a fool. The following morning, as he was digging among the debris, trying to recover some thing.
He came upon a large iron box of gold, which was more than sufficient to keep him in comfort for life.
