   Cuts, bruises etc are prevented from festering by getting a dog to lick then and thus they will heal up very rapidly. Cream or butter is rubbed to the 'sore' and this will entice the dog to lick the part.

   Sore-Lip is cured by rubbing a soft juicy dock-leaf (locally called 'dog-leaf') to the part and then leaving dock-leaf on it. Patrick McAuliffe, Meenkeragh, and James Browne, Meelin. A sore lip is also cured by rubbing it with the Cover of a [?]-that is a lip affected by 'a cold'.
