  1. The following story narrated partly in Irish & partly in English, is taken from two old residents of Preghane:- viz Cáit Ní Bhuachaille (Bean Sheáin Uí Lórdán) and Seán Ua Donnchadha
According to the first named story teller Dómhnall was an ancestor of hers who spent his life in Preghane. All that Seán Ó Donncada could tell of him was that he lived somewhere around here.
Dómhnall Ua Dálaigh was a very poor and devout man. It happened on Christmas Eve when he had not a mouthful of food in the house that an angel appeared and bade him go to Rome to serve the Pope's First Mass
"I shall not be there in time for the Holy Father's Midnight Mass" said D
"You will reach Rome quicker than the swallow in its flight" said the angel
"That speed would not carry me quickly enough" said Dómhnall
"You will be there quicker than the wind in its rushing"
"That will not bear me to Rome soon enough"
You will be there quicker than the change of a woman's mind"
Do thuit an nídh sin amach fé mar a dubhradh agus nuair srois an Dálach an Príomh Eaglais sa Róimh do crom na cloganna
