    of the monks, and said "if you don't curse them the despoilers, I will never again do any work for ye." On the monk's refusal to curse them he rushed off enraged, and coming face to face with one of the despoilers, he is supposed to have caught up the stone to hurl at him, and left the print of his hand on the stone."
    In those days Timoleague was noted for its cherry wine, (hence some people say that's why cherries grow wild in some parts of this locality) and ships came up to Timoleague with goods for sale, and sometimes they bartered their cargo for some of the hides and skins which were plentiful in Timoleague. During these days a ship sailed up the channel to Timoleague, her crew landed, and they commenced to plunder the monastery; Laden with their spoil they sailed away, but they were wrecked before they reached their journey's end. The monks prayed that marauding ships might never again get the chance to plunder the Abbey, and since then the channel has filled with "slob."
