  1. Cliodna was a mermaid who lived in a cave in Owenahincha — Abha na hInse — She used to come out and sit on the rock — called Cliodna's Rock to this day. This place is about three miles from Rosscarbery. A man called Donovan, or known as Seán 'ac Shéamus lived in Burgatia – a townland adjoining the strand.
