    after him. Long ago there was a saint in Kilkeran called Saint Kieran, from whom the townland is named. He had a church there called "Cill Ciaráin". There is no trace of it to be seen now.
    The feast days of these saints has long ceased to be a big public holiday, and work is done as usual.
