- (continued from previous page)or lis where they made a final stand before surrendering hence the name of the lis i.e. lisín na n-arm.
Within view of this fort are two others, one on the farm of Mrs Lambert Barleyhill and the other on the lands of Mrs O'Callaghan Inchinanoon.
The one on Mrs Lamberts farm was beautifully constructed. The entrance to it is lined with stones uncemented. Inside, at a distance of about twelve feet, are two niches at the side. To enter you must crawl in. Inside there is an apartment about nine feet square in which a person cannot stand upright.
A person was once hunting rabbits convenient to this fort and the dog went in the opening and emerged on the side of a hill about a quarter of a mile away which goes to prove that the underground passages extended much farther than the boundary of the fort. It is believed locally that the fort is connected by underground passages with lisin na n-arm. The fort on Mrs O'Callaghan's farm is small and is used as a burial ground for still born children.- Collector
