    I said "my darling girl it grieves me to part with you.

    When I received my sentence in irons I was bound,
    Whilst numbers of my countrymen were assembled all around,
    I was offered then, my liberty, if I'd forsake the cause,
    But I'd rather die a thousand deaths than submit to cherish laws.
