    "Ceo and Seithe ages Coghmhan lom
    An cómhair é sin is feárr san domhan"
    This proverb was a favourite saying of the Rev Z Miller, Lae of St Edmund's parish, when the above sign were discernible. Mount Owen and Sithe are two mountains in this vicinity, and if there is mist on Seithe white Owen is bare, we can be assured of a fine day.
    "Where the tree falls the branches stop". Many years ago, there lived in this district, two brothers, who were rival poets. Once lived in Coolsnactig and the other in Togher. One time they purchased a cow to kill her for meat. The cow was taken to Togher and killed. The Togher poet then sent his brother his half of the cow but he received a reply demanding half of the hide and entrails also, but
