  1. Mrs Burke, Milane, Dunmanway told me the old people used say:-
    "Rath Dhia sa bhliadhain chughainn"
    when they ate new potatoes for the first time, or if they had been short of milk and a cow calved they would say the same prayer when they were milking her, they would also say it when there was any increase in the farm produce or stock.

    When they lit a candle or any other light they used say:-
    "The light of heaven on all the poor souls"
