The above is a picture of the remains of one of the ancient forts of the district. It is composed of clay and stones and is situated in the centre of a large field. The fort is a very ancient one dating back, in all probability, to the time of the Tuatha Dé Danaan. It is in the townland of Dromclugh about five miles to the east of Bantry. The above view was taken from the western side of the fort.
