    The church was to be in length 46 feet, by 24 feet broad, 14 feet high above the ground, and 2 feet underground. The biggest item in estimate was "To 25 ton of Red dale at £3-10 per ton for the Roof, Walls, Slate and Beams, £87-10". Another item reads "To labourers hire attending said work, £12."
    These figures may seem surprisingly small. But in that age a labourer's pay was sixpence per pay, and brick could be bought for seven shillings per thousand.
    The spire of the present ruin is surmounted by a weather vane which bears the date 1856. This vane erected by one Charles Jordan, a stone mason, who lived in a house near the present Crosshaven dispensary. This vane usually prompts the visitor to think that this was the year in which the church was erected.
