Shortly afterwards a band of co religionists set sail from Cork and found which is today one of the most flourishing states of the american republic. The district around Dundanion Castle abounds in local,historic and archaeological interest. Adjoining the Blackrock road is a quarry where it is stated amethysts were found in the early part of thr last century.
- Owing to certain legal question which arose as to the ownership of the quarry, work ceased there and many tons of earth were thrown over the excavation. Some curious stories are told relating(continues on next page)
