The Horgans also owned a mill at Carrigagulla. That mill was for crushing and grinding oats. If a person had a cat or a house in former times and if they were killing game birds they should destroy the cat and the hound. If the landlord told a person to destroy the cat and the hound and if they did not do so they could be evicted. Long ago it was a law when the father would die that the land should be divided equally amongst the sons.
