- The landlord of this district were were the Horgan's. These people lived at Carrigagulla at a place called Carrigagulla House. They lived for one hundred and fifty years in this district. These people were Catholics. One of them was a priest. When he died Tadhg Ua Síotheáin wrote a lament for him called "Toireamh an athair Eoin". It is not known how these people came to keep all that land. These people were considered not bad landlords. These people evicted one man named Daniel Horgan.
Daniel Horgan captured Simon Brown (N.B. It is on record that one Simon Brown was hanged in Cork) and took him to the magistrate in Kilcorney. Simon Brown was convicted of robbery and hanged at cork. One of the Horgan family was also a magistrate and he was jealous when Daniel Horgan did not take Simon Brown before him. Then he evicted Daniel Horgan.
