About 50 years ago Mr G Foley Mullinadrough near Newcestown made this song about his brother Pat and a girl that lived near the Foleys.
"On the first of October wher all bloom was over
Those sporting young couple came down to the cross.
They went into the pub and called for some porter.
And immediately after filled bumper and glass.
Says Pat to his darling come on we'll go walking
I'll show fine gardens in Mullinanock.
Pat then a gragile dont go home to my father for if you do he'el go distracted mad.
They say that his daughter should fix up her quarters and tramp to the road with that young slater lad".
