  1. The townland Laughtneill where I live is called after a highway chieftain called O' Neill.
O' Neill was in Bandon and while crossing the Bandon bridge with his horse, one of the horses legs was shot off.
O' Neill had a great lot of hounds and he loved hunting.
When coming home from Bandon the soldiers followed him, and got up to him and shot him.
Then they buried O'Neill and his horse and his seventeen hounds in the field where they were shot. The field now belongs to Mr. O' Sullivan, Loughtneill, Crooksotwn, Co Cork
