    was about. "A bear a great white bear" they cried and spoke as fast as they could.     The people said they would go at once and kill the bear. The men took axes, hammers, and guns. The women went with brooms and mops.
    As the crowd drew near to the bridge no one wanted to go first. The two men who saw the bear were asked to lead the way but they hung back. At last one boy with a gun in his hand walked bravely in front. He had but a few steps taken when out from the bushes walked an old white sheep. Then how the people laughed and laughed, but for the two men who saw the bear, it is not told whether they
