    similar to a clove hitch or a half hitch as known at present. It had to be performed seven times over the animal; and we are told on many occasions it was successful. This went on for a great number of years and she was known far and near. Finally, one morning the inhabitants of the village were surprised to see smoke coming out of her house and after a great struggle to put out the flames all the found in the house was a handful of burned bones, and all her secrets were burned with her. It was said for years after that a big black dog was seen around where she lived. After that all the youngsters of the village were afraid to go out after dark.
