  1. There were a lot of hedge-schools in Ireland long ago. The people had houses for schools in some places and in other places they went inside the fences. There was a school at the side of the main road near Sheehans of West Derrymihan. The teachers name was Mr. O’Shea. He was payed 2/6 every two months. He used teach in the school for three months and then go away to some other place. The school was only a small thatched building and is not to be seen now.
