  1. Long ago the people used have only one meal a day. This meal consisted of the curds of milk and gruel. Whenever they would boil salt mackerel they used keep the water for making gruel. The cakes they had were called griddle cakes. These cakes were either oaten or meal. They used get a half-pint of milk and mix it with water then put some salt in it. This was used with the potatoes. They used have stampie for Michaelmas.
