Several people who ventured out lost their lives and were blown into dykes and holes. A mile this side of Lanesboro at St Bride's well the roof of a chapel was lifted off and brought to where the church is now built.
The strange part of it is that the roof was left down and not a straw was gone out of it exactly as it was on the chapel. People in Lanesboro are very fond of telling how God selected the site for their church. - In 1917 there was a big snow storm. Farmers suffered great losses.
