When a horse is sold the halter is given away but when cattle are sold the halter is kept.
The great fairs of the year are Saint Patrick's Day fair and August fair.
The Landlord.
The landlord of this district was Major Arthur Ffench. He was an Englishman. He was looked upon as a very good landlord as he never evicted anyone. The landlord bought the land and divided them into farms. He had to get the rent twice a year. When he bought the land he planted hedges and he made a rule no one to keep goats but he allowed any poor people who had no cows to keep goats instead.(continues on next page)
