  1. Irish Folkfore.
    People got married long ago during Srove and Easter.
    There were no marriages on Srove Tuesday.
    There were many old customs and belief's connected with marriage in the olden times.
    These are some of them. It was considered unlucky to be married in the month of May, and also on a Friday or Tuesday. They also said it was unlucky for the matchmaker or the couple tthat were getting married to meet a women first on the marriage day. The old people believed in these superstitions and it was very seldom that marriages took place at these times.
    Matchmaking was carried on in this district long ago but it is very seldom that matches are settled nowadays. Its very seldom that money
