  2. There is another lake near the school also. It is named Shadlough and about 100 year's ago there was a water horse which came out of it. One Sunday in mid-Summer when there were a number of people sitting on the bank, watching the cool blue waters, one of the men spied the horse and ran for help. At one he gathered together about a hundred men, who surrounded him and caught him. A rich Gentleman came and purchased him at the handsome sum of £1,000. This man's name was Hawke's. He kept the horse for racing purposes and he won all over Ireland. His name was "Foxeen". When he used to go to Lenebane (?) all the people's cry out was, here is "Foxeen" and sweet "Lenebane".
