  1. Emo is situated 2 1/2 miles from the Heath and there stands the beautiful village of Emo, which once was the home of Lord Portarlington but is now taken over by the Jesuits, and the rest of the estate was divided among the people around who now have lovely homes on it, and a part of it in forestry. In the early eighties a man named Dason - head- rank in the British army encamped around Emo, and through acts of inhumanity to the Irish people, he got what ground his troops covered which was 1,900 acres.
