  1. There is one historical place in the townland of Raheen which is called the Masspit. It is situated on top of the hill opposite the new school. It is a long narrow deep pit which is overgrown with briars and bushes at present.
    The Masspit is not used for any purpose at present but long ago it was used for saying Mass in. When the Penal laws were in force the Catholics were not allowed to hear mass and on that account the had to go to a hiding place to hear mass. The priests and the people went to some
