  1. A striking instance of Folklore is the history of Clonenagh. This place is on the Dublin-Cork road between Portlaoighise and Mountrath. In the early ages Saint Fintan had his church and monastery there. He established a monastery there in the sixth century and students flocked to him from all parts of the country and even from England and Scotland.
    At the building of his monastery a witch was supposed to come every night and knock down what he built up on the foregoing day. One
