  1. Kylta Raheen is situated on the side of the road between Abbeyleix and Mountrath. The remains of the castle are still to be seen, the walls are about 6 ft wide. It stands near the graveyard of Kylta Raheen and it was the second graveyard in Ireland to be consecrated. The castle was the home of the monks long ago, during the Penal days the soldiers blew down the castle and church from the hills of Raheen. Before the monks were defeated they gathered all the gold they had and put it in their boots and put them
