- The Burial of Cosby
On another occasion another notorious member of the Cosby family died and a strange thing happened.
The carriage containing the coffin drawn by four horses was about to start for Oakvale the burial ground of the Cosbys.
The horses numbering ten refused to move (until) although they lashed them with whips till they froathed. Then they brought out two more horses and yoked them to the hearse but all was of no avail.
After a considerable time they sent down to Stradbally for the priest, Father Dowling, who on coming to the place ordered them to take out all the horses but one. When this was done (and) the priest ordered the horse under the hearse to go on. Immediately the(continues on next page)
