  1. A man named Francis Marron who was born in the townland of Ummerafree and lived later in Curkishbane was the most famous dancer of his time. The steps used are unknown. He was self - taught and won many prizes all over the country. Later he emigrated to America with his family and became a noted figure where dancing competitions were held. He left his native district a very poor man but later on he became very rich
