    potatoes were boiled there was a big "creel" placed in the centre of the floor and the potatoes were thrown into the "creel" and then the people of the house would sit around the "creel" and eat away; they would eat potatoes and butter and they would drink buttermilk The sort of milk that was drunk was buttermilk and sweetmilk and bull milk. The bull milk consisted of oaten meal steeped in water for about a week. Boxty bread and oaten bread and wheaten bread, oaten bread and wheaten bread were the sorts of bread eaten in my district long ago. Meat was not eaten ofton.
