    a barrel of tallow-grease and make candles. They used to dip twine in the tallow and let it harden.
    Weaving was carried on near Ballinakill. A great number of people were employed in the making of flannel. The Ballinakill flannel was very popular. Cap were made there also. Some of the people were employed making nails.
    Up till recent years lime was burned on every farm in the district and put on the land as manure.
    Chairs and baskets were made in Ballymartin out of fir which was to be got in plenty close at hand.
    Poteen was made at Downey's of the fox coveret.
