  1. Story

It is said that the monks in Graiguenamanagh and the monks in Leighlinbridge had a horse trained to carry messages from one monastry to another.

It is said that the monks in Graiguenamanagh and the monks in Leighlinbridge had a horse trained to carry messages from one monastery to another. This went on until some evil minded person living in Fenniscourt Co. Carlow killed the horse when he was on his journey and took whatever valuables he was carrying. They afterwards threw the body of the horse into the river Barrow, and it is said that an apparition of the horse is sometimes seen at the spot, which is called Sgaíl an Chapaill.
