    Marshall in the year 1234. One of the special features of this Church was the High Alter which was made of Kilkenny marble.
    One time a great flood was in the city and all everything in the Abbey was covered by water but it is said that the High Alter was left untouched by the water. When Cromwell went through Kilkenny many of the monks of this monastery were slain. The only portions of this Abbey which remain now are the towers and a small fragment of buildings.
