  1. All the old houses in Kilkenny long ago had straw roofs, flag floors, rafters instead of ceilings, hobs at the fire which was an open grate over which was hung a crane which was used for hanging pots, and kettles on.
    These old houses were furnished with setees and folding tables. These old houses are in ruins now and the old people say they were the best houses. The people says now that the rest of the houses is too dear.
    If we travel through Ireland nowadays we may see houses of olden times but they are
