  1. St Patricks Day is called "Cross Day" as people put a cross of a furze cippen on the shoulder and wear crosses.
In olden times people had certain dates before St Patricks Day to set potatoes. The days in April from the tenth to the fifteenth were called "Shownreeks" or "skinning the Old Cow."

  2. There is a fort between my father's land and James Phelan's Barnathasna and another rath in Landy's of Glúin-na-hAbainn. There is also a rath in Tom Phelan's Garryhalloo and another in Mr. Sullivan's Lamogue and another in Purcells Gurthnagluck. There is an underground passage in Jame's Phelan's fort and a piper is heard playing music in it under a bush the plase being "Cúinnín-na-Píopa-sa or the Pipers corner.
