- St Patricks Day is called "Cross Day" as people put a cross of a furze cippen on the shoulder and wear crosses.
In olden times people had certain dates before St Patricks Day to set potatoes. The days in April from the tenth to the fifteenth were called "Shownreeks" or "skinning the Old Cow." - You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
