  1. Once upon a time there lived a man in a house that was haunted. He did not like this house so he built a new house for himself. Some time afterwards a man came to him and the man in the new house said he would give him a lot of money if he would stay in the haunted house for two nights. The man did so. The first night he was sitting by the fire when he heard a great rumbling noise coming down the chimney. The brave boy did not mind but, on turning around he saw on the floor a coffin. He was so brave that he lit four candles on the coffin and a beautiful young lady sat up in the coffin before him. He said to her to get up and sit by the fireside and
