  1. Very many years ago people from outside parishes used to come to this parish every "Saturday and Sunday" night, and when passing by "Canon Raftices" house they used to be shouting and fighting, and he said that it would give a bad name to the parish and he also said that he would put a stop to it. So one night he went out to meet them with a black thorn stick. When they saw him in the distance they began to knock one another on the ground and roar and scream and kick the ditches. The minute he saw them he ran home.
