Insects. Midges bite severely when rain is coming. They fly in masses near the road.
Fire and chimney.
1. A blue flame in the fire always warns us of the approach of rain.
2. The smoke comes down the chimney in puffs occasionally on the approach of rain. If the smoke goes straight up into the sky there is danger of rain.
