    I. Oh Erin my country your sad tears are falling.
    Your green hills and valleys are weeping In woe,
    And Terence McSweeny my hero and darling
    Lies dead the hands of a merciless foe.

    For he was the emblem of all that was noble
    Of all that was fondest and kindest in thee
    Patriot, Martyr, a poet and a Soldier
    Who gave up his life for this dear Country
    III
    He was thrown in to prison for loving his country
    What nation on earth had a hero more true
    His foes were amazed at the length that he lasted.
    But they can't measure yet what the Irish can do
